Volkswagen Beetle
At number four is the famous Volkswagen Beetle that we are all familiar with. Adolf Hitler commissioned this intriguing car model intending to create an automobile for the people. In 1934, Ferdinand Porsche was contracted to design and engineer the car model. He managed to complete the first model in 1938. World War II derailed production activities because it only managed to roll out 600 ‘Beetles’ between 1938 and 1945. Although the Beetle’s production was halted in Germany in 1979, the last Beetle was produced in Mexico in 2003. The total number of original Beetles produced since 1938 is 23 million.
